Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born on the 16th of May, 1977 is a New Zealand actress. She is known for playing quirky, soft-spoken but headstrong characters, and works predominantly in independent films. Her awards include her winning a New Zealand Film Award, an Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, along with Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award, Critics' Choice Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey's first film role was an teen killer in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures (1994). After her move to the United States, she built an impressive career as a supporting actor in various big-budget and small-scale features, such as Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But I'm a Cheerleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006), Away We Go, Up in the Air, The Informant!, Leaves of Grass (all 2009), Win Win (2011) as well as Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (both 2012) Then They Came Together (2014) and Don't Turn Your Head Up (2021). Lynskey received critical acclaim and an award nomination for the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer for her role as a depressed divorcee in The Goodbye I Must Be Going (2012) that was a pivotal stage in her career. Her subsequent lead roles in Happy Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes I Don't Feel At In This World Anymore (both 2017), Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018), and Lady of the Manor (both 2018) made her an influential figure within the American independent film community. Outside of the film industry, Lynskey achieved fame with her role as Rose on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men (2003-2015). She was a part of Togetherness from 2015 to in 2016. For which she was nominated for the 2015 Critics' Choice Television Award for the best supporting artistress. Megan and Beatrice in Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014) were their voices. (2016-2018). She also was the lead in Molly Strand, the first season on Hulu's Castle Rock (2018). Rosemary Thomson starred in Mrs. America on FX (2020).
